Summer Learning for K-12 Students Richland Two
Summer Learning for K-12 Students Richland Two
Richland Two is planning to offer SOAR (Summer Opportunity for Academic Readiness), a FREE, in-person extended learning camp. The Elementary SOAR program will offer full-day classes starting Monday, June 21 and ending Tuesday, July 20. Start times and end times will be determined after registration and transportation logistics are finalized. Teachers, instructional assistants, and nurses, etc. more information about employment opportunities will be shared soon.
Please note SOAR is separate from the Read to Succeed Summer Reading Camp offered by the district each summer. Students cannot participate in both. SOAR is separate from Special Education Extended School Year (ESY) Services that is offered each summer. Some Special Education students will have the option of attending both SOAR and ESY.
At the elementary level, instruction will focus on English/language arts and mathematics and possibly additional enrichment opportunities for the upcoming year.
Transportation
Transportation to and from SOAR will be provided.
Meals
Students will receive a free breakfast and lunch each day.
Two questions. We promise!
If you’re interested, log into your Parent Portal account between March 22-March 31 and indicate:

Computer Safety
Dear Parents,
Please note that our students have devices during break and throughout their virtual learning. These devices are filtered by Richland Two and when using home networks students will still need to be supervised as always because all filtering systems are not fool proof. Please be vigilant and monitor your child so that they are safe. https://www.commonsensemedia.org/ has great resources for parents if you would like to use them. While R2 does filter the Chromebooks, we do recommend that you monitor your child's usage. When your child signs in you can spot check by clicking ctrl+H or to see your student's browsing history, follow these steps--
On your computer, open Chrome.
