Killian Lion's Den Updates: Insurance Fees, Chrome Support, Free Meals, Virtual Open House and more

September is Kindness Month

Chromebook Insurance Fees

Parents,
Students in kindergarten through 12th grade will be assessed a non-refundable $20 technology insurance fee to cover the cost of device repairs. The technology fee plan provides 100% repair cost coverage for the first instance of accidental damage to the student’s school-assigned computing device. The plan also covers the cost of device replacement in the event of theft, provided a police report is filed. The cost of repeat instances of device damage will be assessed according to the full cost of repair. The deadline to pay the $20 technology insurance fee is October 15th for students who are currently enrolled. Students who enroll on or after September 16th will have 30 days after the first day of enrollment in Richland School District Two to pay the $20 insurance fee. Any family experiencing financial hardships can request a reduction or waiver of the technology insurance fee to their child's school principal prior to the due date. After 30 days, the technology insurance fee will be removed from students' fees and 100% of damage costs, even in cases of accidental damage as well as a first occurrence, will be the responsibility of parents/guardians.

Walk for Life Columbia

Dear Killian Family,

It's almost time for Prisma Health Midlands Foundation's Virtual 30th Walk for Life and Famously Hot Pink Half Marathon! Saturday, Oct. 3 will be the virtual kick-off of a month-long effort to show our support for those who are facing breast cancer. When you sign up to walk or run in the half marathon, 5K or 10K, you’ll receive a shirt, a sticker and other goodies. Half marathon registrants will receive a finisher’s medal. Your registration fee is a donation that will help patients and families who are facing cancer in our community. Last year, 301 registrants in Richland School District 2 helped raise over $19,000 - showing our commitment to the communities where we live, work, and play. I am excited to be leading the Walk for Life campaign, and I would like for you to join me! You can lace up and get moving in your own neighborhoods or nearby parks - all while continuing your support of patients and families faced with breast cancer.
As team captain, I will take care of picking up our t-shirts on Wednesday, September 23rd. Please register as a part of the "Richland 2 - Killian Leading Lions" team or make a donation. You can do so online at www.walkforlifecolumbia.org.
Also note that you will need to register online by this Saturday, September 19th if you'd like for me to pick up your t-shirt next week. Thanks for your support!
We don’t have to be together to be together. Let’s go virtual and kick breast cancer to the curb for Prisma Health Breast Center!
